Who we are
NI Schools Hub (www.nischoolshub.com) provides this GCSE Business Studies revision app to schools in Northern Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described below. You can contact us at info@nischoolshub.com.
What data we collect and why
When you log in, we collect your name, school email address and school name. This data is used solely to verify that you are an authorised user from a licensed school and to maintain a record of app usage for our partner schools. Your school password is used for authentication only and is not stored by the app after login.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — specifically, to provide the revision service that your school has licensed and to maintain usage records. For users under 18, we note that this processing is carried out at the direction of your school, which has agreed to provide access to this tool as part of its educational provision.
Where your data goes
Your login details (name, email, school) are sent to Google servers via Google Apps Script and Google Forms for the purpose of usage logging and authentication. Google acts as a data processor. Data may be stored on Google servers located outside the UK; Google operates under Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers. No data is sold to third parties or used for advertising.
Local storage
The app stores a log of your login sessions (name, email, school, date/time) in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted elsewhere. You or your teacher can clear this data at any time using the “Clear Log” button on the login records screen.
Third-party services
The app loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. The app is hosted on Netlify, which processes standard server logs (IP address, browser type, access times). No analytics, tracking cookies, or advertising scripts are used.
Cookies
This app does not set any cookies. It uses browser local storage only for the login log described above.
Data retention
Login records in Google Forms/Sheets are retained for the duration of the school's licence period and deleted within 30 days of the licence ending. Local storage data persists until you or your teacher clears it, or you clear your browser data.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing of your personal data. You also have the right to data portability and to object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@nischoolshub.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
